A leaky pipe can cost you money and cause a lot of damage to your house. Even just a small drip under your kitchen sink can eventually cause the wood there to warp, and as the water gets under the bottom of the cupboard, it can do things like cause mold or cause holes. If you think that you have a leaky pipe somewhere, you need to track down the problem, but it can be hard to do that because water will move along the pipes, so it may look like the drip is actually somewhere that it isn't. What you need to do is to call a plumber and have them track it down, and repair the pipe for you. There are several ways that the plumber can track down the leak.

Dye

One thing that the plumber can do is introduce some dye into the water coming into your house. The dyes aren't toxic, but they will make it easier for the plumber to see what's going on. So, they'll put the dye into the water and then turn on the faucets. That will let the dye run through the pipes. Then, if there is a leak in the pipes, the water will leak out at that point. The plumber will be able to trace back exactly where the leak is because that will be the first place that the dye will show up on the pipes. That will allow the plumber to go straight to the problem and fix it.

Camera

Another thing that the plumber may do for you is to run a camera through your pipes. The camera will be on a fiber optic cable, which is flexible and bendable. It will also allow light to be at the end of the cable with the camera so that the plumber can see the problem. The other end of the cable will be attached to a monitor. That monitor will allow the plumber to see in real-time what's going on in your pipes. The plumber may not be able to see any very small problems, but they should be able to find many issues with your pipes so that they can be fixed.

If you are worried about a leak, then you need to make sure that you are handling it the right way, by hiring a plumbing repair service to come in, find the problem, and fix it.
