Venting For Air Conditioning Units

An air conditioning unit's evaporator cools down heated air that will be redistributed within a home. Venting is one of the processes that are essential in circulating air and reducing moisture content.

Vents

A portable unit, a window unit, and a central HVAC unit are three different types of air conditioners that your HVAC contractor may be experienced in installing. Before the venting essentials are outlined to you, you will need to select an air conditioner that will be able to efficiently cool down the interior space you have selected.

A Window Unit

A window unit will contain a built-in venting system. Many window units contain a 'close vent' and 'open vent' feature. Toggling between the two settings will allow a property owner to customize how much venting their equipment is furnished with. Adjusting the vent feature to the open position will allow fresh air to circulate within your home. The fresh air can reduce foul odors from the premises.

A Portable Unit

A portable unit will contain a built-in vent hose. A contractor can route a hose through a window. If a portable unit will be used in a room that lacks windows, a contractor will need to install a hole that can be used to support the vent hose. The end of the vent hose will be routed outdoors or to a garage where air conditioning is not going to be used

A contractor will inspect the walls in a home first. They will select a non-load-bearing wall to install the vent hole in. Once the hole has been made, the HVAC contractor will install the hose through the hole and will insulate the space around the vent hose.

A Central Heating And Cooling System

A central heating and cooling system will require the installation of the condenser, the compressor, the evaporator, and the ductwork. The compressor is responsible for pumping cooled air throughout a home. The ductwork that is connected to a central HVAC system will provide adequate ventilation.

The installation of a complex system will require a contractor to select a suitable location for each part of the system. After drawing up plans and completing the HVAC installation steps, a contractor will connect a thermostat to the central heating and cooling unit. This type of heating and cooling unit will require more upkeep than window units or portable units. Maintenance needs will include having the ductwork cleaned.
